February 2006
We are currently in English Harbour in Antigua and were unable to update our travels for a while because of technical difficulties which have now been circumvented. We first travelled from St Lucia to Le Marin in Martinique which was just wonderful for food and wine, with a supermarket with its own dinghy dock! We found the Yanmar dealer and were able to buy a new water pump since the replacement water seal would have been 3 weeks wait at least! We wanted a spare anyway and have now found a seal for the original. What a change to be using Euros again and speaking French.
Le Marin is a beautiful bay sheltered by numerous reefs but fairly busy as it is the centre of the charter boat industry here. We moved up from here to Trois Islets which was quiet and remote by comparison and found some small pictures by local artists for our Colorado cabin later in the year.

We passed Diamond Rock along the way, notorious because the dastardly Admiral Rodney dragged guns up to the summit and established HMS Diamond Rock right outside the capital, Fort de France. Oops!
We moved right up to the northern town of St Pierre which was destroyed by the volcano early last century but has been rebuilt. We could not manage to check out and had to stay through the Sunday Carnival - Quel domage!! Pictures and movies below!!

A view across the bay at Le Marin
Market produce labelled in French and priced in Euros!
HMS Diamond rock sat in a very commanding position for harassing the French!
