Angie and Mike Williams: We have been married since 1968 and have sailed together since 1965. We first owned and raced a National 12 Foot dinghy at Westcliff-on-Sea and then an International Hornet on the River Blackwater. We bought our first cruiser in 1987 - a Moody 33S. In 1990 we bought a Moody 376 when the smaller boat could no longer accommodate four children. As we began to plan for long distance sailing in retirement we evaluated a number of boats within our price range for our expected cruising waters and settled on the Pacific Seacraft 40 - a decision we have yet to regret! |

Mike: I was a Consultant Paediatrician and Medical Director until taking early retirement in 2003 so that we could cruise more extensively before getting too old. I enjoy the technical challenges of cruising - except blocked heads! It has long been an ambition to cross the Atlantic Ocean and cruise the Eastern seaboard of the US. We lived for 2 years in Boston but decided not to sail so that we travelled more on land. Hopefully this ambition will now be achieved! |

Angie: Despite anxious moments I have never been one of those women who would stay ashore. I can honestly say I really love it when Lady picks up her “skirts” and gets a wriggle on. She has given me the confidence that she will keep us safe on an ocean. It was my decision that we finally retired and went off on the boat. I trained as a PA/ Secretary, latterly becoming a medical secretary to fit in with the busy and rewarding task of bringing up our 4 children. |
